In September 1868, Zion Missionary Baptist Church was established as the second African American church in Saginaw County, one year after the organizing of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. These faithful African Americans were founding members of both churches; worshipped together, were friends, neighbors and family members.
Today, Zion is still a beacon of light on the very same foundation, where it was established as a place of worship one hundred and fifty-one (151) years ago. As we journeyed from the “Old Zion” to the Zion Missionary Baptist Church of today, we praise God for the spiritual growth and Christian leadership he has provided us along the way.
